Coolant Temperature Light comes on for a minute or 2 then turns off.

    Hello all,

I had a question I was hoping to get resolved.

I bought a brand new Mirage G4 and whenever I first start the car a green temperature coolant light comes on. It stays on for about a minute or two after driving then shuts off. Is this a bad thing?

Hello VictorCash and welcome to the forum.

Your Mirage doesn't have a temperature gauge, but rather a simple indicator light. Green means the engine is still warming up, and it will show green until the coolant temperature reaches about 137℉. Red indicates overheating.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions about your Mirage.

This. /\ Green light is perfectly normal when the car is warming up.

Welcome to the forum! Believe it or not, this is one of the most searched-for Mirage topics on Google that brings people here. Comes up frequently...

Thread: Stupid question maybe... (what is little green thermometer icon?)

    Read your owner's manual.
    Simplify and add lightness.

Welcome to MirageForum. A site where a simple post asking about a light on your dashboard can spark a thread consisting of 16 pages.

My favorite is the threads about car batteries. It ain't rocket science people. Its a roller skate with wheels!

Fantastic advice! Let's put it in bold font on the home page and eliminate a lot of this site traffic. Especially those who venture out and make their first posts...smh

VictorCash - Welcome to the forum, & congrats on your new Mirage purchase!

I didn't think about the green temperature coolant light much when I bought my 2017 Mirage, because my 2011 Subaru Forester uses the same green light to indicate low coolant temperature. I would much rather have a coolant temperature gauge, but neither of my vehicles have them now. The idiot lights are sort of lame in my opinion, but they leave room for all those other things (TPMS light, traction control, cruise, etc...). I'd much rather have gauges for coolant temperature and oil pressure, but those aren't common features these days.

I've owned my Mirage for about 20 months, & I can't say that I have all 300 pages of the owner's manual. It's good to know other members have!

I also wanted to do my part to stretch this thread out to 16 pages, too!!!

I appreciate Mitsubishi offering this basic little economy car to us in the U.S. market. If we only had companies like Ford, we would all have to drive SUVs and pickup trucks in the future. I hope you are enjoying your new Mirage!
