    Harmonic Brake Noises

This has happened several times now. When coming to a stop, I hear a bit of a harmonic noise; sounds like it could be coming from the rear drums. 2017 ES hatchback, 11,500 miles on it. Maybe just need the drums cleaned?

    Anyone else experience this?

My car does it, too. It is a 2015. It only started after I changed the rear brake shoes. Very annoying...

Some people say drum brakes last forever. Mine makes all sorts of noises in damp weather. I think some of this is normal, but mine have been cleaned once before. Never replaced yet.

Even the Mitsu dealer said at 110,000 km's on my drums they are good another 16k and the dealer is a stealer in my opinion.

I don't mean to laugh at anyone's expense, but your title for this tread is pretty good.

Yeah, that's a drum brake thingy. My Space Star does fine, but on several bicycles I have had screaming drum brakes when they get wet.

I've owned lots of cars with drum brakes over the years—I have three with rear drums now—and I've never had a car do this. Weird.

Have a mechanic check them maybe, but I wouldn't be surprised if your drum brakes are doing what mine are doing. They're probably ok. Since they're brakes, I wouldn't gamble about them however.

Though I think the front discs do the brunt of the work.

Me either but my rear brakes were getting a little noisy (especially after raining) awhile back so I found a big empty parking lot and drove 30 mph in reverse and slammed on the brakes. Been quiet since.
