Hey, at least you weren't this guy on /r/Mitsubishi the other night, his car met the same death, albeit a little harder. His was totaled as well but probably more because of the airbags going off. Sucks.

Sucks about your car, Geojake. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

My Mirage got hit by a shovel that fell off of landscaping truck on the interstate a couple of months ago. The guy had just passed me in the center lane (I was putting along in the slow lane doing the speed limit ). Anyway...he hits a bump and 2 shovels come flying out of his trailer and bouncing across the interstate at 60 mph. Everyone was swerving and it was a miracle there wasn't an accident.

Unfortunately one of the shovels hit my lower rear passenger door as I attempted to avoid it...

No big deal...that's just a 6-inch scratch and a slight dent right? How about $740 to repair and properly blend the paint. The good news is that the owner of the landscaping company paid for the damage. I'm pretty familiar with body shop operations but even I was shocked at that estimate. Even the cheap estimate I got was over $600.

Moral of the story: Quality body/paint work isn't cheap!

2nd Moral of the Story: I need a frigging dash cam!!!

Thats awsome! Im trying to get on at a hospital or rehab facility. Home work sounds fantastic. You fit all your gear in your Mirage well?

Yup. My fender bender involved the same corner, it wound up being almost $2800. Replaced the whole door which took them 2 weeks to just get one, and because of that they blend paint into every adjacent panel.

It was pretty dusty that day, I don't really do anything special to keep it shiny besides auto carwashes. I have buffed it before though and it does get a nice mirror finish.
