Here's today's numbers:

Most users ever online was 1,393, Today at 02:36 PM.

And the day is not over.

Interesting. And odd... hits to the site are normal levels.

Turns out August was the forum's best month so far in terms of total visitors, by a hair.

It was 5th best in terms of page views. (The top 3 months were during the 2015 model year discount blow-out sale in the U.S.; July was our next best.)

Most users ever online was 1,277, Yesterday at 10:57 PM.

I'm curious to see when this counter resets.

I don't think the counter is accurate anymore - it might be counting search engine bots as well as real people. Our traffic yesterday wasn't unusually high.

I suppose you're right - I wouldn't know. I wondered how that was calculated. Do you think it's possible that bots are trying to appear as though they were individuals?

I don't think it's intentionally misleading... the search engines are all over the forum every day. Normally they're filtered out by traffic counters, but obviously vBulletin has dropped the ball on theirs. And they aren't planning to fix this one.
