Just as a point of reference, one of my vehicles is a 27-year-old Ford Explorer. It has never even been in a fender-bender. My mom still drives the 2006 Toyota Corolla she bought new in the fall of '05.

Not all cars are going to wind up totaled when they are 7 years old!
I wasn't suggesting all cars will get totaled, but things happen in life. Needs change, but your point about the transmission being somewhat odd is very valid. Here's one with 0 miles on it for $750, & it makes the point of being made for Mirages made after 4/14.

All Mirage transmissions from April, 2014 to today are exactly the same. It is the ones installed on '14 Mirages built up to that point which are harder to find. Theoretically, if you were to buy a low-mileage replacement CVT for an early '14 Mirage now, you would be able to keep it on the road for perhaps 300,000 miles...or more!

Talk about "getting your money's worth"!

But considering both 2014 CVTs are almost exactly alike wouldnt a skilled transmission specialist be able to transfer the latter model CVT in the the former? Thats the million dollar question for me. Ive called Mitsubishi, trans shops, my trusted mechanic, and I cant get a straight answer.

When your's blows up send it to me, I'll compare the two. I wonder if that service manual we all pirated from that sketchy russian site might show any difference between the two 14' cvt models?

    Edit: nevermind it's for 2015

This CVT with 0 miles for $750 is probably a good deal, but it clearly states in bold letters -

"FITS: 2014 (after 4/14 production date) 2014-2019 Mirage and Mirage G4 - auto"

    https://www.ebay.com/i/283491084913?...iABEgIyiPD_BwE

All the information shared really make one believe it can't be used on an earlier Mirage. I hope you find an answer, & I don't blame you for being frustrated!
