Square piece right next to the cvt and dip stick.

I can't really see a difference in the cooler. Maybe the holes are different size? I can't find a picture of the early 14' cooler anywhere. If that is the only difference it'd too easy to just install a 15+ and not worry about hording all the early cvt's you can find.

It seems to me that this difference in interchange is likely related to the infamous 'starter grind' issue in early cars. I suspect any differences would be found under the bell housing. I seem to recall the starters being different on early '14 cars as well?

Not to say that any of this necessarily precludes using a late trans in an early car.

I remember that too. Something about shimming the starter or something? The part numbers seem to be the same, at least now the 14 and 15' both show using 1810a333 for the starter and 2701a164 for the flywheel. Maybe they changed the bellhousing where the starter mounts for 15? Different cvt cooler. I wonder if anyone on the Philippine Mirage forum may have tried swaping a 15' cvt into an older 13-14?

It's funny how this cvt failure thread turned into figuring out if a 15' cvt will fit in Dirks 14' lol

You know just about everything there is to know about these cars, this is probably the last mystery for you lol. Either way, thanks for examining it in the first place.

Moving along, dealer charges $160 to look at the stupid thing. I got me a funny feeling it'll be coming back with a bill and no new cvt.

I secretly hope they deny warranty so I can tear this one apart. I'm positive this one has the exact same problems as the other 2. While coming to a stop the car almost stalls. If feels exactly like my truck did when the pilot bearing was siezing to the input shaft but without the crazy loud screeching.

If this one isn't too trashed inside I'd try to flush it out and throw a new input shaft assembly at it and giver. Eh!
