I remember seeing the Fiesta back in its day. I didn't realize there were people who bought a 2nd Ford Pinto!

Then again, the Vega, Monza, & Chevette weren't exactly great cars!

American car companies really left the door wide open for Toyota & Honda to come here back then.

    Folks we have a winner.

Saw one on the road last week. A convertible if I recall correctly.

I've only had one car that wasn't compact, an '04 Monte Carlo.

I had a 2003 Cavalier and then a 2006 Cobalt, which were OK cars. Reliable and bland.

I had a 1993 Nissan Sentra for a time. It was super fun to drive, but it didn't have A/C, so I didn't keep it for long. It was in great condition for its age. One of its many previous owners had a thing for Winnie the Pooh. He was hand-painted onto both quarter panels, and the faded tint on the rear window had a faint Pooh shadow where a huge decal must have been for a long time.

Like a few others here, I had a '96 Metro for a few years. It had 260k miles when I sold it.

Finally, before I bought my Mirage, I had a 2009 Yaris. It got decent fuel economy, and I loved the interior, but I could never get used to the throttle response, which was both laggy and too sensitive.

I bought the Fiesta in the autumn of '78 for $6,000.00 which was a lot of money. It was the top of the line "Ghia Edition". Fully loaded except for alloy wheels. Sport handling package, a/c, sunroof, sport interior, etc. It only came with a 5 speed manual transmission and of course it was front wheel drive. No electric windows, power steering or power brakes. Had the 1.6 liter engine, carburetor of course. Fuel mileage was mid to high 30's. It was my first new car and a blast to drive. A year after I had it, I loaned it to my younger brother, and that evening it was T-Boned by a drunk driver. Thankfully there were no fatalities, but the car was totaled.

Oh, I forgot the Volkswagen up! Good little car with an astonishing 59 bhp 1.0L 3 pot engine that could just tow a roller skate. But it did take me to London a few times.

Wow that is a nice Mini there itschad. My friend Phil back in highschool had a much worse-shape Mini. Not sure the year of the car. He fixed it up and the car got better over time. No legroom in a Mini for me. My Mirage over 5.5+ years of ownership, my car love and hate it, would be better as a backup car, but so it goes. I need those car payments to stop

The original Mini in restored condition is worth a King's ransom now.
Some over £30.000. Especially the well sorted original Mini Cooper.
Have a look here, one going for £79.000. wow.

Early 80's, my girlfriends dad worked at a Ford dealership and at one point owned 3 first gen Fiesta's (1 for his wife, 1 for each daughter). Great little cars, especially the ghia. He liked the mpg and the ease of working on them. (The mirage hatch reminds me of them). Never left us stranded anywhere. Did manage to put a dent in the hood of my girlfriends Fiesta once, but that's a story for another forum... ah to be young again. Moving on...

Cool. I like the first generation Panda. The UP! is pretty cool too but, VW is too smart to attempt selling them in the U.S. They do not even sell the Scirocco here because it would be taking GTI buyers.
