Right on. The math there Mirageman 38 about the gas for your old Jeep, and buying this car instead, that makes you think. Another thing I opted for the 5 speed manual, but manual is not everyone's cup of tea.

I went from a 1998 Ford Escort, to my 2014 Mirage, so yea I know the feeling of upgrading. Feels like you really upgraded to the modern era. The stereo has USB ipod hook up, and the stability control makes the car handle better.

And yes the Mirage looks retro, but whatever, it looks good to me, very Mitsubishi looking, with hints of even the Eclipse in the grille. Sort of throw back, but then the slick aerodynamics make the Mirage still look very new in the 2019 models.

Hello Mirageman38 and welcome to the forum. Thanks for the introduction too.

Be sure to make a forum Garage entry. It is a convenient way to share how your Mirage is configured, which allows other forum members to see what you have without having to ask you each time. You can also share your modifications there too.

    Garage empty: add car

I think you are off to a good start. Let us know if you have any questions and we'll do our best to help out. Here's to many miles of reliable transportation.

Welcome! I have made this point to many an amateur auto reviewer. Most people shopping the Mirage will be coming from much older, well-used cars. If your last car was a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, a new Mirage will seem like the space shuttle in terms of tech.

It isn't meant as a replacement for that 2016 Lexus or 2015 Cadillac, which is something most auto reviewers...professional and amateur...are too far up their own asses to recognize.

Keep the fluid changed and fingers crossed. I only do a drain and refill from the drain plug on the Mirage's I service every 50k kms(30k miles). But I might start dropping the pan more often to get more fluid out and get a look at the magnets. f I owned a cvt mirage I'd probably drop the pan and replace as much fluid as possible every 30kmiles/50k kms.

I'm going to be making an in depth video (and written) review on my 2018. Prior, I'm going to rewatch and reread and make a list of 'negatives' on the car that those same auto journalists have and address them in the review, as an owner who uses his G4 daily for delivery/errands/road trips. I'd have never bought my G4 if I hadn't read all of the glowing owner reviews. The auto journalists give this car a bum wrap for no reason!!

Initially I stumbled on the car because it was the best MPG non-hybrid vehicle and the fact it was one of the cheapest vehicles for sale along with a great warranty.

What makes it fit my needs is the fact it can easily hold 4 people and had the full 4 doors with handles. I had a 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee and much of the city driving I do was getting 11MPG! The only thing I miss about the Jeep is being able to tow but I really don't need this 99.99% of the time. Doing the math in under 50,000 miles this vehicle pays for itself.

Moving from a 2003 there are LOADS of features I never had before. Reading some pro reviews would make you think this is a Flintstones car but when you are moving up from something this old it is hard to be disappointed! I just took it for a several hundred mile trip and I averaged 46MPG on the highway! Plus parallel parking is now a breeze. So far so good.

My only concern going forward is making it to 200k with the CVT.
Congratulations on your purchase Mirageman. I'm sure you'll get to admire more the longer you have it.
    200k, no problem.
