    Here's the text of the Mirage entry from the article.

With an EPA-rated 39 mpg combined fuel economy for the CVT-equipped hatchback version, this is certainly a case of David versus the gas station. Of course it won’t be getting you anywhere very fast, as the 2017 Mirage G4 with CVT we tested in 2018 achieved a zero to 60 mph in a patient 12.8 seconds.

    • Base Price: $14,790
    • Fuel Economy EPA combined/city/highway: 39/35/42 mpg
    • Horsepower: 78 hp
    Here's hoping some press like this will keep this design in production for years to come.

    2018 = 24,316
    2017 = 22,386
    2016 = 22,226
    2015 = 21,515
    2014 = 16,708
    2013 = 2,935

    17,607 Mirages were sold through August of 2018, and 18,981 Mirages were sold through August of this year. The Mirage is on track to beat last year's numbers.

    Average New-Car Prices Up 2 Percent Year-Over-Year for April 2019, According to Kelley Blue Book. IRVINE, Calif., May 1, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The valuation analysts at Kelley Blue Book today reported the estimated average transaction price for a light vehicle in the United States was $36,843 in April 2019. May 1, 2019

    I appreciate Mitsubishi's willingness to sell the Mirage in the U.S. market. The Mirage is affordable, reliable & very economical. There should be a market for that in any country, including the States. I am glad it's being continued into next year.

    Nicest words C&D has written about the Mirage!

    average transaction price for a light vehicle in the United States was $36,843
    I'd be interested to know what the mean price is, or if it's an even distribution. Could be skewed by popular but higher-priced vehicles. (EG. Loaded pickups & SUV's.)

    If you like numbers, here they are. Vehicles are broken down into 23 different segments. I was listing the average of everything.

    Slice and dice!

    Interesting: the average "compact car" (smallest size category listed) transaction price in that data is $20,639.

    I willing to bet the Hyundai and KIA new CVTs are going to have some teething issues.

    My 2018 G4 ES w/the $800 wheel/radio pkg, mats/folio, armrest, and wheel locks was $17,970. My out the door price was $11,508.12. This was at the top of my range ($11k), and I'd resigned myself to a newer used car or a CPO. The two closest runner ups for me were a non CPO Yaris IA and a CPO Kia Rio sedan (2019). Both were more than my G4, which had 30 miles, the other two were 4K (KIA) and 30K (IA). I think they were both around $12k.

    I've been watching Motorweek reruns on YouTube, of Mirages/Colts/Summits of the 80's/90's, when things were around $7-$10k. Things have come a long way since then!! All in all, I think the current Mirage/G4 are already great cars that when discounted sort of make a no brainer decision in it's favor.

    But Hyundai/Kia don't have CVT's!

    They have "IVT's".

    Also new is Hyundai’s Smartstream Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), the company’s own in-house continuously variable transmission. Source
    They also have a delusional marketing department that is desperately hoping people/reviewers won't realize what's driving the wheels.
