    CVT & Pulse and Glide

Is it bad to do Pulse & Gliding with a CVT?

No, neutral in the CVT is just like neutral in a manual transmission. You can coast in neutral with no issues (as long as the engine remains running).

Thank you, inuvik. I travel over hilly highways and am mainly concerned about reengaging the CVT to "D" from neutral at 70mph when I reach the bottom of the hill in preparation of going back up!

I just rev match to about 2000 rpm at 60 mph and it's smooth as warm butter into gear (no harshness or abrupt engaging).

I heard in stop and go slow traffic its best to put it in B or low gear. Easier on the CVT? Thoughts?

Why bother? Honest question. If you care enough about economy to bother pulsing, you completely bought the wrong transmission.

And Dirk, it should make absolutely no difference if it's in low or drive. If you get any speed up you are just revving it higher for no reason. If you stay slow enough for that not to happen, it'll be in the same gear range regardless of what is selected.

Don't... dont force it to rev higher for no reason. THATS how you kill a CVT.

I bought it because I share it with my wife who can't drive a manual.

Oh, I don't think this is so. The CVT both is designed for and delivers fine fuel economy, even for a driver who might not have the skills for it.

?????? What's the last "it" in your sentence? manual or CVT (assume manual maybe?)

I hold no prejudice against a person's race, religion, or preferred transmission!
