    Rear springs, replacement parts

The old style stock rear springs for America were softer than today's stock springs.
These were Mitsubishi part number 4140A319 up to mid 2014.
Then came 4140A466 up to the beginning of model year 2017.
After that came Mitsubishi number 4140A467. All above see thread "Suspension history".

In Europe different rear springs were used, and these were and are also very soft. The change in type number was made in Europe in 12/2015.

There are several makes of rear stock springs available here in Europe.

    These include:

    CS Germany: Part number 14.620.034
    KYB Europe: RA5070
    Lesjöfors: 4259271
    TRISCAN: 875042108

In the Philipines, KYB RZ5121 rear springs are sold, which should be similar to the
European KYB RA5070. These supposedly being the slightly stiffer sort.
Why KYB have different numbers in different markets beats me.

    Interesting find Foama!

I just double checked and if you go to the site I've used in the past (mitsubishipartswarehouse.com), they have no rear spring listed for a 2017!

For a 2018 Mirage, they have part number 4140A470.

So, it looks like I'll have to revisit and update the chart with the latest info.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

Thats interesting! mitsubishipartswarehouse.com lists 4140A469 for 2017 and 4140A470 for 2018! Here my source tels me 2017 would be 4140A467, and they have no info for the 469 or the 470. Very strange...

Will there be a part number for the 2014 mirage? 4140A470 = RA5070
    is it OK?

The European Spacestar/Mirage has type 4140A313 rear springs for 2012, 2013, 2014 and up to 12/2015.

According to the thread "Suspension history" the US car has 4140A319 UP TO mid 2014 and 4140A466 AFTER mid 2014. That means there are different springs for America.

There is not very much difference between the European sort from 2012 until 12/2015, and the later sort after 12/2015, in fact I have both the old OEM style and the later style from CS-Germany, but can not tell any real difference! The later sort are made from 0.25mm thicker wire, and otherwise look the same.

If you want stiffer rear springs with less body roll, you may want to consider looking at springs from maker Eibach. They are rather inexpensive in Europe.

Shock absorbers for our cars in Europe are only available from Mitsubishi, very expensive and very soft. KYB-Asia sells suitable shock absorbers, but unfortunately KYB-Europe has none.

Absolutely. Standard rear spring is very soft. I feel uncomfortable. Is the RA5070 compatible for the 2014 mirage in terms of compatibility? Do you know the code for Eibach? Thank you.

The KYB-Europe springs RA5070 fit the rear of our cars regardless of model year, although they are officially for cars after 12/2015.
These RA5070 are a bit firmer. You could also use 14.620.034 from maker CS-Germany, they are selling much cheaper but are of good quality. The later sort will make some difference, but maybe you will not notice any difference. I personally think the difference is so marginal, it probably is not worth the effort of replacing them.

If you want the car to have firmer springs and also less body roll, you could use the EIBACH rear springs. In the EU these springs are only allowed if you install both front and rear springs, but the front springs make the front noticably lower, and on bad roads this is not so good because the front is already low. The EIBACH rear also make the unloaded rear lower, but with two passengers sitting in the rear, they will not be noticably lower than with OEM springs.

The EIBACH on only the rear makes good sense for bad road conditions.
The EIBACH number for front and rear (4 springs) is E10-60-017-01-22.
    For only rear: F11-60-017-01-HA
    For only front: F11-60-017-01-VA

Thank you. I will consider CS-Germany and Eibach. My goal is to protect the bottom of the vehicle while carrying passengers. There is no problem with the price but the shipping cost is more than 2 coil spring fee
