Hello says a Starligt Silver Spacestar 1.0 Cleartec Invite from the Netherlands

Hello to all Spacestar/Mirage enthusiasts all over the world,

This weekend I got my new Starlight Silver Spacestar 1.0 Cleartec Invite.

I choose the car for its space combined with a good fuel economy. Fuel is pretty expensive in the Netherlands....

So far I only drove a couple of hunderd kilometers, no idea yet how good it is.

One thing I noticed is the front wheels do not return to the middle position once you release the steering wheel after a curve. Is that something anyone else exerienced? If so what was the cause and how was it fixed?

I intend to fix an aftermarket bluetooth carkit, has anyone had any experience with installing this in the Mirage/Spacestar?

    Greetings from the Netherlands
    Paul

    Welcome, Paul!

Another 1.0L manual owner! I'm very envious. We only get the 1.2L in Canada.

I thought the description of the car's self-centering sounded very strange (bad)... until I tested my own cars (Suzuki Swift variant, Honda Insight). They also don't return fully to center, and I just never noticed before, until reading about the Mirage. If someone had asked me before actually checking, I would have said "of course the steering returns to center!"

So I suspect it's something you would get used to. It's not likely easy to fix. (Unless perhaps the steering "caster" is adjustable.)

See also: Do you find the "self-centering" of your Mirage's steering to be odd?

    What was your previous car?

    cheers
    Darin

    Hello Darin and Spacester,

    Thanks for the quick replies!

You will laugh, but my previous daily driver was a 1981 3.8V8 Mercedes S-Class, and yes I miss 5 cilinders, 2.8 liters, 150hp and the rest. But then again I will also miss almost 1000 kilo's weight, 1.3 metres and a LPG fuel mileage of 20 liters/100km This old S-class however is an extremely reliable car and fun to drive with features like ABS, electric windows etc, I really love all of it.

But unfortunately due to taks regulations it was not interesting anymore to drive it on a daily basis.

So I made an extreme switch! Hope I won't regret it...

    Greetings from the Netherlands
    Paul

    Hello Spacester,

Correct in 2013 they are both TAX-FREE in the Netherlands.

However the 1.0 will cost 230 euro per year in 2014, the 3.8 about 1800,-

And as I hate paying too much TAX.......
