Yes, that's just a render but closer to Tsunehiro Kunimoto's design for the 2020 Mirage.
While we were there, we couldn't help but ask: What will the next-generation Mirage look like?
Thankfully, Kunimoto gave us an answer, albeit a short one.
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation's division manager of design said that the Mirage will look dramatically different from the ones we see on the roads today. However, he did drop a hint: he says it will have the Dynamic Shield design. The Dynamic Shield look is the one you've been seeing on the current Xpander, Montero Sport and Strada, as well as the Eclipse Cross and facelifted ASX.
This is interesting. Other reports we have here on the forum suggest little will be changed for the 2020 model year. I would be surprised if what you are saying is true.
Have you seen any 2020s in the Philipines? It would be helpful if you could provide some pictures.

The 2020 isn't going to change much at all. Mitsubishi has already stated this.
It is the next generation of Mirage that will see the changes, which may debut in '21 or '22. The photo being passed around is of an Xpander nose grafted onto a current-gen Mirage body, just to give people some idea of what the new car might look like.
bloodehunter - thanks for that link! That's the first official mention of the next gen. Mirage I've seen in a while.

Everybody: I think we're talking at cross-purposes here because of confusion about year of production vs. model year.
In many countries there is no artificial "model year" designation like there is in the U.S. & Canada: your car's year is the year it's built. So the 2020 Mirage will likely be the next-gen model in some countries. Meanwhile in the States & Canada, the "2020" Mirage is the current generation, even though they're being produced now, in 2019.

Jeeze people need to stop posting the photoshops as if they are anything like what is coming. I will believe it when I see it.
But while we are on a roll here is my fan art submission for what 2020 will be.

I bought a 2017 Mirage ES manual because it was cheap, reliable, & very economical.
If the next generation Mirage is cheaper, more reliable, and has better fuel economy than the present Mirage, that would be a winning combination for me. What are the odds of that happening?
In my opinion, you can only do so much with the appearance of a small hatchback. It's a bit irrelevant to me.
