I haven't done this myself, but extra keys can be programmed without the use of another device. Sadly, this applies to Mirages in the States, but not Canada. I have no clue why that is?

    Taken from a 2017 Mirage Owner's Manual -

To add a key, you must already have 2 registered keys. You need to register the ID code to the vehicle.
Registering the ID code can be done by yourself (except for vehicles sold in Canada), or by your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. For you to register the ID code yourself, follow the “Customer key programming” procedure below.

You are provided with 2 keys, but you may register up to 8 keys.

This the title of the procedure - "Customer key programming (Except for vehicles sold in Canada)"

I'm going to try it anyway. I doubt very much it will damage anything. It doesn't make any sense why something as basic as copying a key would be denied in Canada.

I was able to program a key for a 17' nissan with an autel scanner.(cost around $1000?) Didn't use the factory relearn procedure, just made the scan tool do it's job. Haven't tried to in a Mirage but I'll have to see if it's an option.
