The Aerio does look like a decent car. Maybe get another 5-8 fairly trouble free years from it? It's not every expensive when viewed that way.

Also, you kijiji car ads are totally different format from ours. Weird. Example. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/st-catharines/

Fummins, I had the car for you! 07 Honda Fit, 220000 miles, still 34 mpg and fun to drive (5 speed). Only drawback is needed a.c. work, but you guys apparenfly don't need a.c. in the land of Trudeau. Year old starter, New fuel pump in last 3 years and regular oil changes. Selling it tomorrow for $1800 just to get it out of my driveway and off my insurance. Sorry we don't live closer, it is a great commuter. Good luck on your search!

But more cheaper(to buy and repair) is more better.
    Here are some tips Fummins:

First the obvious: get a Mirage! Lol Southern Ontario has a lot more beater Mirage's. So I get you prolly don't want to travel far and wide, just for a winter beater.

    2. Boxy cars you didn't mention but might wanna consider: Kia Soul. Soul's never appealed to me, but they make a lot of sense. It's like a minivan for practicality. Also what is that Scion boxy car/truck thing?

    3. If you are gonna spend 12-19k, at least consider brand new. I may buy a Kia RIO with a 6 speed manual after my Mirage. I just can't spend 15 grand on ANYTHING used. Even an M5. I would stay away from a used M5-- as cool as they are, I wouldn't want to be a second owner to a car like that.

Nissan Armada eh? Rare. I bet that thing gets 15 mpg haha. When I drove across your beautiful province in May, I had a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe rental. Nice to have a bigger vehicle in some ways for sure.

The Aerio gets lousy MPG for its size/engine displacement! I drove one for part of a winter. Also - check for underbody rust. The topsides looked mint, but the owner ultimately had to scrap it due to a swiss cheese underbody.

Rust isn't as much of a problem in your neck of the woods, though, right?

I'll still sell my 40k 2015 Mirage for $5500. Florida car, zero rust. I'm too lazy to market it, but I wouldn't mind thinning the fleet. Two people in the house. 5 cars. It's a bit much.

Same deal here. Myself with my partner + 4 cars (make that 5 as I'll likely buy another soon) + 3 Suzuki Burgmans.
