Making the switch to 175 65 r14 Barum Brillistas today.

Hey guys after months of riding on bald Potenzas Im making the switch. Discount Tire got a sale going on. $37 for Barum Brillistas. Most of the reviews from Mirage owners about the tire are positive. I just hope the mpg isnt too effected considering the great gas mileage I was getting from the Potenzas. My main hope is the tire noise will go down and Ill have better grip. Weight difference is a concern as well. Thoughts for the village idiot my Mirage Mages?

There was some depth on the middle tread though. I know from previous post that my allignment on back left was slightly out of spec but the front and back right was fine.

I can't offer an opinion on Barum, but having run 175R75/14 winter tires all this year (don't ask) after a computer reset my mileage is now consistently 60 mpg imperial. My tires are NOT energy saving in any fashion.

These are all season 175 65 r14, I didnt even know they made 175 75s. Are you saying your mpg is bad now?

No, my mileage is great. Way better than what a lot of people say they get once the Enasaves are gone.

I know my mileage would be even better with Enasaves but I'm really happy what I'm getting without them.

Well the jury is still out on tire noise. I def felt like they handled bumps and potholes better.

I had a set of Barium Brilliantis on my 04 Civic. They we're an okay tire. I'm not sure about mpg as I replaced them before putting any real miles on it. I did not like the wet traction with the tires though. The 04 Civic DX is no power beast, but on cold or wet days I had no problem spinning them shifting into 2nd gear. Other than that they seemed to be a nice and extremely inexpensive tire.

It is my understanding that Barums are made by Continental. My ex-gf had a set on her Mercedes 400E, and they seemed nice enough. Though mileage was not a concern in that car!
