    How I spent £175.

Had my Mirage serviced at a Mitsubishi franchise last week, advisories were, both front tyres down to 4.5mm of tread but one had a cut (small) quote from dealer £136, brake pads worn, quoted £98.
I like to use Mintex brake pads, have done for decades, and I'll choose the tyres.

A little searching on the web I found GT tyres (mid range) fitted for £110 at a local tyre dealer, brakes cost £20 from the Bay of fleas fitted by a garage that I've used for Lord knows how long for £20.
Then previously bought Bosch AR AeroTwin retrofit wipers were fitted. Now all is good.
As it gets darker now in the UK, clocks were turned back by one hour last weekend, so by 16:30 it's dark went out at 9pm then discovered the Mirage has Bi Zenon HID lights. Now, they are good, so much better than halogen.

Yep, short days are coming. I'm waiting for my RHS wipers & LED headlights from Amazon. I have decent snows but I spied snows on attractive alloys so I'm checking those out. I'll be winter ready in a week, both Mirages

Im confused though, you just bought the Juro and your already having to get new brake pads? Or do you just prefer a higher performing pad?

No Dirk, I bought the car used, I will never buy another new car again. In 1986 I bought a new Vauxhall Cavalier and vowed never again, too much shekels lost.

Tyres are generally cheaper over there. I can say that the GT tyres are fine. Mine are 175/55 R15 T (77) and there ain't too many over here. I wanted Avon or Toyo tyres, not in that size I'm afraid.

What are the road conditions like in northern England? They're ****e here in Atlanta. For once Im glad I got the cheap steel wheels because I dont think a nice set of alloys could handle Georgia potholes.
