Renegade Performance (Mirage aftermarket parts & products)

Id like to update this. My buddy and I are offering new products for the platform.
    We offer:
    Chromoly rear sway bar
    Chromoly front strut bar
Aaaand as of this weekend a chromoly front sway bar complete with poly bushings and poly end links. There will be tons more to come.
If this isn’t allowed I apologize. If it is I’ll post pictures of my car with our products on it. Everything is hand measured, cut, welded and all that Jazz. It’s all also heavily torture tested.

Moderators note: Moved these posts to a thread of their own.

It is allowed. Keep us updated. I like that people are trying to make aftermarket parts for the Mirage in NA, but it would really be nice to get a distributor from Southeast Asia to bring aftermarket parts from there. They already did the research & development in SE Asia for almost everything....

Since it’s allowed allow me to introduce myself and what we do. I’m Matthew and I’m an R&D assistant with Renegade Performance. Renegade is owned by my best friend of 19 years and I assist him with the efforts. I run powershift media along side him and we do car reviews and such as well as some YouTube work. Anywhoo here is some of our work.
    https://powershiftmedia.net/fabrication/

What we’ve done for the Mirage is MERELY the tip of the iceberg. Our strut bar is constructed with 5/8” footer plates and 7/8” chromoly tubing in a double barrel design. We chose 4130 chromoly for the light weight, and incredible tensile strength. It’s not a cheap material but it is indeed the best material in my opinion.

For the rear sway bar we chose 1/2” plate for the footer for extremely rigid mounting. The bar itself is SOLID 7/8” 4130 chromoly. We chose this size to offer the spring rate effect we were shooting for. It’s incredibly rigid and over built for durability. The handling difference was profound on my car. It includes mounting hardware as well.

This weekend we are hand fabricating the front sway bar, as the rear sway bar has exploited the weakness of the oem front. We chose energy suspension for an end link solution that offers poly bushings and their bushings for the sway bar they feature grease fittings. All front sway bars will include the end links, bushings and brackets for said bushings.
The sway bar itself will be a 25.4mm solid 4130 piece. We are taking the approach of Motorsport principles by utilizing proper roll bar tuning to keep the chassis predictable and as flat as possible.

Projects to come? Well my mirage will be getting tons of custom work such as a turbo setup, stand alone engine management and much more. Here’s what we want to offer:
Chromoly crossmember - strength and weight savings
Chromoly tubular front crash support - tons of weight savings to be had and we are going to engineer it to allow more frontal clearance for those of you that may one day be needing room for a front mount intercooler; or in my case room for an additional radiator for my air to water intercooler.
Chromoly rear crash support - weight savings
Chromoly control arms - weight savings and lowering the roll center of the mirage
Custom exhaust - mine will be fabricated in titanium. But we can do any material
Here’s some pics of our work

And now some pics of the Renegade project car. Oh, it’s getting a manual swap. Mind you, the ideology behind this car is a dual purpose street/road course car.

Thank you for moving it to its’ own thread. The list is ambitious, but our passion runs deep. We just fire up the ideas and make them reality. Offering them to this community is just icing on the cake

Any kind of turbo is going to burn your CVT out. Its not made to handle all that stress and added hp. I was stoked about your setup until I saw you had a CVT instead of a 5speed. Unless of course, you just treat it as a disposable car that you dont care if it hits 100k miles lol. Otherwise cool set up. Can you drive a stick?

Powershiftmatt mentioned converting their project Mirage from CVT to 5-speed manual (a first here on our forum.)

Very ambitious! Especially so since I don't recall anyone else even mentioning such an extensive wish list here, and I've been following every post since September of 2015.

She’s getting a 5 speed swap for sure. I’m also going to be working with a clutch manufacturer to have a 6 puck made up for our cars as well. I don’t intend to push any power through this CVT.
Yep I can drive a five speed. Bonus points because I can also drive a dog box and owned one for a few years hehe.

Hey Powershiftmatt, I have a question for you.

This generation Mirage is recognized as the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid car on the market today. Many here (especially on this forum) were drawn to the car because efficiency is the primary design aspect of the car.

Do you have any plans or interest to improve on the Mirage efficiency?

Personally speaking, I don't see this car as a race car - not at all. The physical layout does not lend itself to high-performance acceleration, braking or cornering. There are many, many other platforms that are better suited for racing and the money would be better spent starting with that rather than trying to get a Mirage just to the same level of performance as another car can provide in stock form.

So what do you think? It's just another way of looking at performance, but it's what the Mirage does best.

A turbocharger can most certainly increase efficiency. I am interested in a variable boost turbo for both mileage and performance.
