    Cool 2019 CVT thread

Welcome to the cvt thread for 2019. It seems every year there's something new to discuss about what really is a basic component to keeping a cvt running smoothly.

Take some time to chime in with your cvt plans and strategy. Do you take your cars to a garage or service department? Do you do it yourself? What supplies are your favorites? What fluid, filters and/or tools to you use to get the job done? Be sure to include links to these items so we all can benefit from your experience.

Seems to be a bit late in the year to start the 2019 thread. Did anyone ever reach a conclusion as to what intervals the two filters should be changed?

On my quick search of Aliexpress I found what I think to be the cheapest filter/oring/gasket. Not sure if anyone here has tried them.

Make a two choice poll. 5mt or CVT. hopefully the lurkers will vote as well.

My Mirage has a CVT. I've driven it 2000 miles so far and it's okay yet haha.

Sounds reasonable. We are getting pretty close to 2020 after all. I could change that if Dirk wants.

Hey Dirk, start things off here. What have you done for your CVT? Maintenance and typical operation.

One fluid change right when I got the car at 45k miles at a Mitsu dealership. I check the color, oem should be a pale green, every 2 weeks. When I hit 75k miles Im getting fresh fluid, ordering that side aux filter online and having a trusted mechanic put it in.

I really think that with the way you care for yours, you will wind up with the best kept, longest lasting CVT here or anywhere.

I uber so if I can get 150k miles Ill be grateful. Sad, the previous Mirages from the 00s got 200k all the time according to the online used car sites. Ive yet to find one with 200k miles.
