    Winter tires?

I was able to score some brand new Nokian Nordman 5 winter tires for $100 and got new steelies for them. My dilemma is finding someone who will mount and balance them in the Cleveland, Ohio area without TPMS installed. I don't want to spend the extra money and I feel responsible enough to maintain my air pressure on my own. Anybody able to direct me to someone who will?

No idea specifically in Cleveland but I've had better luck with local shops. Especially if you just take the tires and wheels in and don't tell them what they go on, just that the need to be mounted. I've even had Walmart do it that way...YMMV

just put them all in the car and go to a random tire company. Either they will put them on or not. Tough luck for them if they don't.

I can't help you, but I'm just here because that seems so crazy to me. Every shop here, including the dealer, doesn't give a damn about sensors.

    Why would anybody care?

Just bring them the tires and rims, tell em it's for an old car and then bolt them yourself later. Everybody is capable of a driveway swap. Tell them it's a Canadian car without TPMS even.

Go to Westown Tire. They should take care of you.

Good reviews on Yelp: Westown Tire

Be sure to chat up the owner Ruben - I know his brother Ricky.

Safeway Tire would be another option, but it's on the East side.

It's a liability thing. A shop cannot knowingly disable or otherwise do anything to "make inoperative" any TPMS functionality. If the shop thinks these wheels are going on a 2014+ Mirage, they won't touch them without sensors.

Just carry the wheels/tires in to the shop...don't ask them to mount them and then put them on your car. Be ready to tell them what they are going on...just in case they ask. Give them an old car (before model year 2008) that uses a 4x100 bolt pattern and 14" wheels. That should be enough to make most shops happy.

I always say they are for a home built trailer and I have the ownership that shows two axles, but not wheel or tire size.

Try an old Civic, 90s through early 2000s. I'm pretty sure the 90s Civics still used 14" rims.

I’m just going to tell them it’s for a 2001 Civic and go up there in my wife’s car with a 5 bolt pattern!

If you go to Westown, I seriously doubt they will question you. Just a guess.
