Didnt read every post, but my 2018 is abysmal in winter as well. Horrible, actually.
You learn to cope though. Keep a small squeegee on the dash and use it as an inside wiper blade every minute or two. Works for me.

We should all buy cooking thermometers and stick them in our vents!

It would be interesting to do a warm temperature comparison of owners with 2014-2019 Mirages.

The only complaint I’ve had was a driver who had the lever over at recirc, and heat blowing only on the floor. Otherwise no complaints. No blocking off the rad. I’ve seen lots of plugged heater cores in old Mazda though. They would blow good heat out the vents but not defrost.

Oh, our car gets PLENTY hot.
It just doesnt blow hard enough to keep the moisture off of the very top of the windshield.
Most vehicles defog with airflow, not just heat. It's the terrible max fan speed that does the Mirage in for us.

Terrible max fan speed? What do you mean, its weak or an archaic design? Just curious.

I have to unzip both my lightweight down jacket and my under hoodie, remove my hat and gloves, or I cook when on longish trips, say 100 km plus. Even my kid who rides in the back tells me she's completely comfortable there even when the outside temps are -20F.
I must have a good system, it's manual. I haven't driven my Climate control '14 in the cold enough to decide about it.
My first '14 with CC was amazingly warm as well. Maybe CDN specs cars have something different in the HVAC systems.

Mirage owners look at the world differently than everyone else, but in a better way
We're driving the Beetle of the 21st century, the greatest small car now available!
