Hello from NY. Got a '15 to deliver food with.

So I deliver food at night for a second job and figured with 32 mpg I would be doing ok.... I'm only getting 28 mpg. hoping the car holds up to the abuse. So far so good but as you can imagine delivering food is city driving at its worst. I have learned to be gentle and get the most out of my cars however. Most have been $600 sh!t boxes with 200k miles lol. I usually get a year out of them and sell them for almost what I paid. This time I wanted some creature comforts and peace of mind to take it out of town if i wanted. It has 36k on it and i actually feel bad delivering in it. I know guys are hitting 200k in them already but i doubt that was city miles. Anyone really abuse these cars and can vouch for the longevity?

CVT or manual? I uber in mine and after 7k miles its been reliable. You should be fine as long as the previous owner was dilligent in maintenance.

I have had my Mirage almost 6 years now. I drive my Mirage spiritedly for sure, and my motor loves it with the 5 speed. I always get great 40+ mpg highway fuel economy. I would take it easy on the gas, also make sure everything is hunky dory under the hood, tires etc. You should be getting better fuel economy. Is yours an automatic?

My Mirage has creature comforts like I haven't seen before too.. like all the traction control and that. Compared to my old 80s and 90s cars my Mirage is extremely modern. Also feels retro.

You're going to take a mileage hit with the change to winter blend fuel, plus colder temps require a richer mixture, which also impacts your mpg, too. Check tire inflation. Even at 35 psi, my G4 will coast forever on the ensaves.

Hello Minimitsu and welcome to the forum. Glad you joined and that you are enjoying your Mirage. You're not the only one around here using a Mirage for delivery.

Regarding fuel economy, the easiest and best payback is increasing the air pressure in your tires. Give that a try and get back to us.

I think the fleet that Fummins manages are all city driven cars. Tough little buggers.

My Mirage is a '15 ES manual I bought new to deliver pizza. It now has almost 132,000 miles on it, and the only problem I ever had was a broken clutch cable at 113,000. These cars are little beasts. The hand of man never forged a better delivery car.

you know, my tagline says we're driving the genuine Beetle of the new century. I think history will show the Mirage was the absolute winner of the small car wars. Nothing else even comes close for reliability, not even the famed Toyota Yaris. The original Beetle certainly had their share of problems, rotted heat ducts, front torsion bar failures, squirrelly ride on the highway @ 65mph.

Maybe for the manual. Not so sure about the CVT. Even with highway I am averaging 38MPG or so. 28 seems unusually low if you are actually calculating it by hand. The computer for me in my heavy city commute says crazy low numbers but I average much better in reality.
