Car and Driver begrudgingly reports on Mirage

Still snarky, but not as bad as previously.

2020 Mitsubishi Mirage: Better? Probably. A Bit.

The Mirage had plenty of room to improve, but unfortunately this is just a facelift and much of the substance remains.
I for one am glad that Mitsubishi didn't make extensive changes. I think it's a pretty good platform. And even if Mitsubishi went ahead with a new design, it might not be that different.

For example take a look at the previous generation - the Mitsubishi Colt. There are lots of similarities between generation 5 and generation 6.

Ha. John Pearley Huffman quotes himself in his own article.

I haven't been following these threads that closely...but this is what the 2021 Mirage will look like in the US, right?

The 2020 Mirage in the US looks just like a 2019...doesn't it?

Are you suggesting that Car and Driver journalists are confused, or just confusing?

You beat me to it. Perhaps this 'facelift' is debuting in other markets for 2020? Mitsubishi issued a release months ago stating that the Mirage would soldier on unchanged for 2020 save for a few minor equipment changes and a new grille on the G4.

    The 2020 looks like this...

I wonder how the new look affects drag coefficient, if at all?

Funny you mention that. Mitsubishi said the first refresh (I'm calling it gen 6.1) improved aerodynamics, but I couldn't see how.

AFAIK it's mainly the rear bumper which has a slightly adapted shape to improve the flow. The 6.1 is slightly longer, and it's all in the rear bumper.

I'm so glad there are soft touch elbow spots now. Like instead of the hard plastic armrests on the doors on 2014 Mirages etc. so uncomfortable with my own 2014 Mirage ES in that regard. Borderline awful.

I wonder if you only get the plush soft armrests, and middle arm rests, on top-trim Mirage's only? The new synthetic leather Mirage sounds neat.

This is interesting. I don't recall my armrests being a problem at all - maybe I don't use them? Now I'll have to pay attention.
