My first car was a Mitsubishi (1979 Pymouth Arrow). I think I see just a ghost of a hint of this car in the front end of the 75 Colt.

After I went to college, my parents moved to New Jersey. My dad somehow ended up with this primer grey Plymouth Champ. I don't remember the year but it was old, automatic, and hideously ugly. I also don't remember the circumstances of how he ended up with the car but it was something like a breakdown and needed something quick or acquired for a sibling who either refused to drive it or didn't need it anymore. We call it "The Toad" and dad drove it to work for a few years. I think he was a VP of some such or other at the time. This impressed me immensely and may just have influenced my own attitudes.

Dad has been gone for a few years and I hadn't thought of that for a long time.

The first few years of my life I was driven around in an 89? Dodge Colt...

My first Mitsubishi is my 2018 Mirage SE.

My daughters were born 1990 & 1993, & a 1989 Plymouth Colt Wagon DL served our family very well for 10 years. In-laws used it for a number of years beyond that. Everything about that car was Mitsubishi. The only thing Plymouth was the Plymouth nameplate on the outside.

    Hello,

My first was a 1976 Dodge Colt. Same body style as the picture Atomicpunk posted.
Mine had a 4 speed manual.
    No Air Condtioning.
    Tilt steering wheel.
You adjusted the clutch with a knob on the firewall.
    Bought it used in 1982.
I ran the wheels of that car as a young 22 year old.
    It was tough as nails.
In 1982, the fastest trip I ever made from Bristol, Tennessee to Hazel Park, Michigan took me 9.5 hours. Got behind a big Cadillac, followed it at 90 mph for 4 hours of that 9.5 hours. He was running a radar detector. I could see it on his dash. When he would slow up, I would slow. As soon as he got back into the gas, so did I.
It was summertime. Car never got hot, even without overdrive. Great car.
My first taste of Japanese durability and efficiency. I have never forgot that car. Lots of memories.

Atomicpunk, I will be praying for your brother.

My first was a 1987 dodge power ram 50 4x4.
    2.6 liter 4 cyl stick..
would roast the tires till it sucked the carb dry then run on three till the fuel pump could catch up. Needed an electric fuel pump in the worst way..
was charcoal grey, loved the color but taught me to drive with my lights on. Couldn't believe how may people pulled out in front of me till I started using head lights all the time.

Thanks, Bristol. I remember on our trip to Florida, my brothers Colt got great mileage cruising on the highway. Not sure what they were rated back then, but just about anything beat my Dad's Pontiac station wagon with big block V8!

First Mitsubishi I ever drove was the 2000(I think) Galant a former friend of mine had. It seemed very solid and quick but was quite thirsty. That should be expected of any 2.4L I4 I suppose. I always thought it looked a bit like a BMW 3. Not being an aficionado of either they aren't dissimilar.

But the first one I bought was the one I'm here for.

Here's 18 year old me in 1996 with my 1992 Expo LRV. This wasn't our family's first Mitsu, but was mine. My family had a Dodge Champ, which was made by Mitsubishi, in 1980. That'd be our family's first.

Sweet wheels. I bet they'd fit a Mirage.

They were 4x114 so no. But the hubcaps would!
