Hey Cobrajet, was that letting the pump auto stop, or did you top off? Also, do you carry a gas can?
It was to the stop. I figured I had a nearly dry tank and managed to stuff a few extra ounces into the filler neck. I do carry a gas can, so I can be a little more cavalier than most with how empty my tank gets!

i put 9.47 gallons in once when i drove from medford oregon to winnemucca nevada on one of the longest stretches of pavement without a gas station on it. some 240 miles between gas stations and then the gas station at the end of 140 was closed so i had to drive an additional 9.4 miles to the next gas station a few miles north of winnemucca. so about 250 miles of treacherous mountain roads then arid desert. it was midnight when i started and i got to the blessed chevron around 6 am. i saw 4 cars the entire time and they were all going the oppisite direction of me.

this is a good read if youre interested

My math is probably way off but I think gas is way cheaper here than there. It's .91/liter here. Am I on glue or is this correct? .91/.264 gallon(us), $3.44(cad)/gallon, with exchange rate works out to $2.58/gallon here vs $3.24/gallon there.

This was July of 2015, when gas prices were higher. Maybe they were higher in Canada then as well?

Washington State has the second highest gas taxes in the US, so gas prices are always above the national average. I don't think I can find fault with your math.

There are 3.785 liters in a US gallon. So at C$0.91/liter, that would be C$3.58 a gallon. Factor in the .75-to-1 exchange rate, and that equals US$2.68 a gallon.

Right? So gas is cheaper in Canada now than it was in Washington back in the summer of 2015. Yeah, I'd buy that. The question would be how much was a liter of gas in Canada back then?

    My latest fill:

    34.7 L (9.2 US gal) into a 35L (9.25 US gal) tank.

    Sort of...

I panicked when I saw no bars and the flashing-fuel-gauge-of-imminent-catastrophe, so I added 3 L (0.8 US gal) of gas that I was carrying. I added another 31.7 L (8.37 US gal) when I got back to my preferred gas station (about 30 km / 19 mi. away)

You'd have to take away the amount of fuel it took to go from the 3L top-up point to the gas station. Maybe 1.2 L?

According to my fuel logs, it was my first fill up when I got the car. 7.809 gallons. I haven't really pushed it to the 9 gallon mark yet. I'm averaging 7.2 to 7.5 gallons when the fuel gauge is blinking.

Didn't you fill up before you started that 240 miles trip, or did you really burn 9 gallons on 250 miles, which is less than 30mpg?
