    i didnt know that, i thought there were only certain tires that were studdable. good to know.

    A Nokian Nordman 7 can have studs or be non-studded. The tire is set up to be used either way. Thus, studs can be added or removed.

    Some winter tires may not have a stud option. The Dunlop Winter Maxx 2 may be that way?

    Those are the two main 165/65-14 winter tire options for the States.

    I think Nokian has a type of spring loaded stud, too?

    Another brand is Pirelli that still makes 14" snow tires. I think they're 165's but they might be 175's. That is the 14 inch winter tire they sell at my local dealer, $116 bucks a pop plus installation.

    the studed and non-studded nokian's are around $80 a piece

    My Pirelli snow tires were awesome for three seasons.
