    rear defrost wire broke

I was closing my hatch and the corner of a box hit the place were the wire attaches to the rear defrost and popped off. Seems like something I could solder back together, but in the winter? What if I used a hair dryer to warm the window first? Could I just use superglue? I haven't taken a picture of it yet. I'll try to get one soon (I'm at work).

Yah, I'd get the glass nice and warm with a hair dryer and I would solder the connection if at all possible to insure good electrical contact. That connector is exposed and I've come close a time or two hitting it closing the hatch with big bulky items in the back.

I'd investigate Liquid Solder. I've used it in the past to repair the traces on rear windows defrosters. With the ban on lead I don't know if it is still being made.

I'm visiting someone this weekend who probably has these things. Hopefully there'll be time. Thanks!

I'm going to a hardware store after work today. I'll check for that. Thanks!

My 2 cents - tape it together (if possible) until warmer weather. I would be afraid of cracking the glass.

Clean your conductors gently with an eraser until you get shiny metal. Don't get aggressive, you want as much metal as possible.

But use some aggressive tape? ...Considering the weather and condensation...

You wanna know something funny I just looked up 'rear defrost wire broke' and they sell repair kits. And they're not tape.

Yeah, there is a kit for repairing this. It is basically an electrically conductive paste that can be used to reattach the wire.
