MirageForum Fuel Log stats: 19 Mirages, averaging 42 MPG, 17.9 km/L, 5.6 L/100 km

Thanks for bumping this thread. The stats "box" on the home page is out of date, and I'm going to make it "live" data very shortly.

Here are the current "fleet" stats for our fuel log:

• 440: Total number of fills recorded
• 196431 km / 122057 miles: distance tracked by all Mirages in the database
• 41.9 mpg (US): fleet average (all cars)
• 41.5 mpg (US): average for 38 1.2L cars, both transmissions
• 39.9 mpg (US): average for 19 1.2L CVT cars
• 43.3 mpg (US): average for 19 1.2L manual cars
• 47.5 mpg (US): average for 2 1.0L cars

Showing mpg (US) only for now (will update with other units on the home page).

It is interesting to see that the manual transmission cars are doing better in mpg than the CVT's I think the manual's are more fun also...but a bit nosier.

I'm not surprised the manuals are doing better. The CVT is rated higher due to the fuel economy testing methodology. But in the real world, a manual always offers the driver more options to save fuel (if the driver wants to). Or burn more fuel, if the driver wants power (or is clueless).

The exception may be in pure highway cruising, which depends on top gear ratios.

The CVT sure is nice and quiet on the highway though, running 925 RPM less than the manual (non-Euro gearing).

So the new data suggests that the front page stats are already pretty stable around 42 MPG.

I am looking forward to seeing the improved stats soon.
Would be great to also have more details on the individual fuel logs, as I've already mentioned :-)

I probably shouldn't say this, but that is actually the best technique. I tell Tim (daox) to feel free to nag me when I don't get stuff done in a timely manner for the forum.
