    MirageForum Fuel Log stats: 19 Mirages, averaging 42 MPG, 17.9 km/L, 5.6 L/100 km

I crunched some numbers from the MirageForum Fuel Economy Log up to today (December 8, 2013).

Mirage / Space Star drivers are doing well!

Total number of fills: 174 over 73878 km / 45905 miles

    Fleet average: 17.9 km/L / 42 MPG (US) / 5.6 L/100 km. That's for all 19 cars, both engines, both transmissions.

Breaking it down a bit further (I'm a nerd for the stats) ...

    Drivetrain
Number of cars KM/L MPG (US) L/100 km
    1.2L, All transmissions 18 17.8 41.9 5.6
    1.2L, CVT automatic 12 17.7 41.6 5.7
    1.2L, Manual 5-speed 6 18.0 42.4 5.6
    1.0L, Manual 5-speed 1 19.2 45.2 5.2

    Interesting!

First: I plan to add these stat calculations to the index page of the fuel log, so we'll be able to get an up-to-date picture whenever we like.

Second: it's great to see that you are collectively beating the U.S. EPA's "combined" (city + hwy) rating of 40 MPG for the CVT and 37 for the manual. (The EPA's testing system is currently the closest to what's attainable for most drivers in the "real world".)

That confirms what a number of people (including media reviewers) have been saying: Mitsu's EPA ratings for the Mirage are not exaggerated (as some other companies' ratings sometimes are). They may even be under-estimated.

Third: I wish that 1.0L engine was available here!

PS: 15window, I haven't forgotten that you want to be able to be able to add your 2nd Mirage to your fuel log. I meant to fix that last week and ran out of time. Will do it this week.

Nice work Darin. It'll be cool to see that as live info as the site grows.

amazing! indeed the 1.0L takes the lead. And it provides enough power too, just know when to rev up and switch to lower gear

I added the "fleet" fuel economy stats section to the home page:

    http://mirageforum.com/

It's not "live" data just yet - it links to this thread for now. But this week it'll be changed to live stats, and will link to the fleet summary I'm working on for the log.

I am seriously thinking about a 2015 Mirage, that being said, my CR-Z isn't too shabby in the mpg department. Tonight's fillup 8.25 gallons and 350 miles since last fillup. That is slightly over 42mpg in mixed driving with the CVT.....I am one lucky guy! Love these small frugal fun machines!

Got 39.7 m.p.g. with the '11 base model Fit with a 5 speed auto . The 40.9 is at 30 miles getting home after the fill . Don't understand why more people don't drive smaller vehicles to have more money in their pockets to help economy , use toward the car payment , utilities , etc.. Would like to get a Mirage someday .

Lots of people are "underwater" with their current vehicle and can't upgrade to something more economical to drive. Dealers were real good at rolling in any balance owed on a trade to the current vehicle's loan, leaving the customer owing more than the car is worth when they drive off the lot.

Cars depreciate so quickly that it only gets worse and you end up tied to your current ride.

Safety is another reason. Despite modern vehicle safety devices, many people just feel safer in a big vehicle. Those that have a long highway commute often want as much metal between themselves and the other guy as possible.
