Windage trays are to prevent oil from splashing onto the crank and creating parasitic drag. I think its another example of Mitsu spending money where it counts. These things were designed to be highly efficient and as affordable as possible.

Mitsu: you only get one string to hold up your cargo cover, but we'll bolt in a windage tray

Does the oil pickup tube have some sort of screen filter built in?

Any idea how far/deep into the pan the pickup tube goes?

While you've got it open you could potentially solve a question that has come up a few times on the forum. how far above the high hole of the dipstick can the oil be overfilled before the oil level will hit the crank and will froth/become very problematic?

I wish he could have answered those questions. I imagine he has his oil pan back on now though since this thread looks to be about a year old.
