Road test: Mitsubishi Mirage is cheap but with ample charm
Grant Edwards - Gladstone Observer
This is the first review I've read that doesn't complain about the steering feel or ratio, saying instead, "light steering [...] makes easy work of the urban jungle".Those shopping in this aisle want reliability, cheap and functional A to B transport - and the Mirage delivers.
But it does get in the usual dig against hard plastics - "Hard plastics highlight its market positioning". (See our thread: Why does hard plastic offend car reviewers so badly? )
Pros:
- good price (great, with the introductory voucher)
- feels roomy
- one of the better CVT's tested
- pleasantly surprised by performance & handling
- funky colour choices
Cons:
- test drive proved thirstier than official rating
- lack of cruise control
- just adequate rear seat room
This is a mostly positive review that concludes with:
