i think the reason being is for wide angle viewing purposes, but i did find it odd but better than nothing

True. Back up parking sensor is a very good option though. it's blended in to your bumper with same color.
I've used cars which the wide angle rear view cameras installed at the number plate lamp on the middle (GMC Yukon, Toyota Avanza in asia) and it's very good. Plus you don't see it from the outside. Weird approach here, Mitsubishi.

yeah the headlight is 9003 , i didnt do the fogs, still halogen, i'll probably keep it halogen or get silverstar ultra
