    Rear Wheel bearings

Does anyone know how far I can go on bad rear wheel bearings? My bearings are bad, making lots of noise, but had to order them since no one had them in stock. Still need to drive the car so is my wheel gonna fall off after a few miles? 2014 Mirage DE with 160000 miles.

There haven't been a lot of rear wheel bearing failures reported. If you think both of your rears are going bad, you may want to remove your rear drums and have a look.

Check out this post from Cobrajet. He took off a drum to check out a bearing noise, and the bearing literally fell apart.

Here are some other useful threads. You need a press to uninstall the old bearings and install the new ones.

They will generally make noise for quite a while, and that noise will get WAY louder before they fail. Jack the car up and grab the wheel. Rock it from side to side and up and down. Feel how much movement there is in the bearing. A barely perceptible bit of movement is considered normal for a lot of cars. If you've got 1/8" of slop, that's getting pretty sketchy.
    Simplify and add lightness.

If it's making noise I wouldn't drive the car. You could be chewing up your spindle (or already are doing so) which will result in a repair bill far larger than a new bearing.
