Rpm jumps ( up & down at 60 mph. CVT)

Hello, I have a 2015 mirage. While driving highway speeds mainly around 60 mph my tachometer will start going up and down. I can feel it in the car. Anyone have this problem?

CVT or 5speed? If CVT, that's not good. It's called "searching" and can indicate something is wrong with your transmission. Check the CVT fluid, if it's brown, change it pronto. If it's black, it could be too late or it could help. Only time will tell.

Welcome to the forum Clay526. If you have 60000 on your Mirage a CVT fluid change would be advised. There are actually two filters you can change also which isn't a bad idea. There was this TSB issued for the CVT's to address issues when coming to a stop but members that have had the dealer complete the update have reported much better CVT operation at all speeds.

You got the 100k mile warranty? If not, dont feel like you gotta shell out $6k grand to get it replaced. The cars get totalled out easily and there's a bunch you can have the CVT pulled out of in a wreck yard. That's worse case scenario, I'm sure it won't come to that 60k miles is premature for CVT failure.

Post #4 says he changed it @ 58,000 miles.

If I owned a CVT, I would do 30,000 mile changes.

If you have warranty I'd take it to the stealership and see what they say. We had a 2014 spark that did the same thing, tach would bounce cause transmission would be constantly shifting up and down. Dealer replaced the transmission no questions asked then did it a second time months later. They just sent work a letter saying they've had some complaints about cvt problems and would like to extend the transmission warranty to 200000km(or more).
My 14' does this at low speed light throttle, junk.
