Question Question on Air Intake Modification

I was thinking the other day on doing a mod on the stock air intake.

I was thinking of a way to increase airflow into the intake and took a picture from the intake hose to the front and it looks like mitsu's design is to trap air coming in from the front grille into the front bumper where the air inlet is more or less aimed at. So now that made me think. Would it be beneficial to create an air funnel from the grille to the air inlet?

Here is a pic for reference.

Mitsubishi already beat you to it. In 2017 they added this piece to the car. I'm sure you could create your own version of this too.

Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

I was thinking more of a funneled dam and feed it directly into the intake

The intake is a highly engineered part. I'm sure it's already quite optimized.

That being said, I pulled mine off and made a loud boi intake.

Yeah, I think you could make a better version yourself. Let us know what you come up with!

I don't recall seeing a hood scoop on a Mirage. Looks like the time has come.

The hood prop is in the same spot from 2014-2019. Bumper and hood are different, that’s it.

The OE funnel actually mounts under the upper radiator support.
