Most shops with a half assed scanner should be able to look up what's going on. I haven't heard of anyone rebuilding cvt's personally, everyone seems to be afraid of them.

A dealer could probably tell you what the codes are but I highly doubt they'd ever attempt to actually repair a cvt. They usually just replace them rather. If that's the route you're planning might as well just go buy another car. Like Dirk said, used ones are cheap. That'll probably be the best bet if you can't figure out what's wrong yourself.

You can download a service manual for a 2015 Mirage from russia. Google it or do a search.
As far as interchange goes, you obviously didn't want to look it up yourself I did it for you. Late 2014(after 4/14)-2019 will work interchange according to https://www.mitsubishipartswarehouse...c-transmission They all use the same part number.
Fummy, you think a skilled mech could interchange with our pre 04/14 2014s? There's no discernable difference from the pics.

I think an untrained monkey could do the swap. I haven't looked too hard at the two side by side. I didn't see any difference yet. The cvt cooler part numbers were different. Who knows what else. The

I wouldn't worry about til you need one. I would recommend dropping the oil pan when doing a fluid change though rather than just drain from the plug. It's a little more work but you get an idea of when to stop driving it and put a sign in the window.

I'm getting a new fluid flush next week at the dealership when I get some time off. I'll be sure they drop the pan and check. I'm hoping they actually do that anyway.

There is no way to flush these transmissions unless you remove the cooler mounted on the front of the cvt and bolt up an adapter in it's place that is likely only to fit certain jatco cvt's only. I believe you may be hornswoggled a little. Wouldn't be shocked if you just got a simple drain and refill of 2 1/2 quarts once they realize them hoses on the transmission are full of blue kool aid.

Yeah your totally right. Just went by there to get an oil change. I asked about dropping the pan, they said they don't do that, only a flush and diagnostic check for $250. The CVT filter and labor was an additional $150. You got the part # for that side filter? I want to make sure it matches up with my estimate receipt. I dont trust those guys.

They want $400 for 30 mins worth of work? I'd go to horrible freight and pick up a 10mm socket, some extensions, a ratchet, drain pan(optional) and a funnel(also optional) and do it yourself. I don't have the filter numbers off hand. Too busy to look it up today. Surprisingly.

Yeah the dealer is stupid. Easy to drain yourself. If you don't want to take off the pan jack the rear passenger side up high and it'll drain almost 4 quarts out.

Good point, if you're not having any transmission issues that works and makes more sense. It wouldn't hurt to drop it once in a while to have a look though after the miles start getting up around 100000 miles

I agree. I just know the fluid was horrendous in my red one (as in never changed ever) and wanted to change it out asap and since I didn't have anyone over I refuse to go underneath a car unless someone else is around. I have a new side filter waiting to go in but I'm gunna drive it till it hits 100,000 and then change it all out again. Plus I don't know Dirk's living situation but apartments are usually angry if you do any service yourself but draining it out and refilling it himself is easy and fast enough that they probably won't notice and will save him a fortune.

Also, I know it's unpopular opinion to go buy anything that's not dealer ridiculousness, but you can buy the CVT fluid from Valvoline at Walmart for a hell of a lot less than the stupid ass dealer and it says that it's compatible with the J4 slop. I put it in the red car and I'll put it in there again when I change it again. It sucks that there's not a way to completely empty and replace the fluid in it like you can with a regular automatic that feeds trans fluid through an external cooler or the radiator.

If tried it Is just screw it up. What I really need is a competent transmission specialist. I'll cross shop private places see what they'd include with their CVT maintenance. Hell I might even take it to a Nissan dealership. This is all preventative though, my cvt has performed admirably after 30k miles still.
