You unscrew the antenna mast, screw in the antenna lead from the shark antenna, and the shark antenna fits over the old base. This literally takes 5 minutes, if. I just made sure I heated the tape up with a hair dryer before I attached it to the shark antenna, then heated the car and tape before applying it to the roof.
Interesting. I was kind of hoping the whole base came up (so you could put a blankplate or something), but reducing the overall height of the antenna would be good. I might have to buy one of these!
