    Question Side Skirts

Hey guys, just a quick question, the black plastic side skirts that covers the rocker panels. Are they beneficial for anything such as aerodynamics? I had to remove them for a piece of my sweeper nozzle that I dropped down in there. But anyways, they do weigh 4 pounds for both. As you can tell in the picture, I just want to know what is the best option, leave them off or put back on? Thanks.

I thought they helped protect that part of the chassis against damage from rocks & debris.

+1 Eggman. My Metro sedan came from North Dakota where they use sand instead of salt. Not much rust, but the rockers rusted away from being sandblasted by tire spray and rusting once they paint was no longer there to protect the steel.

If they weigh 4 lbs they very well might pay for themselves in aerodynamics alone, protect your rocker panels from extra harm

I wish I could remember the thread...but I can't seem to find it. Someone posted a picture of brand new Mirage (maybe from another country?) and it didn't have these side skirts on it.

I just want to know how you got them off. Aren't they held on with a few bolts and a lot of 2-sided tape?

I got those on my 2014! Its weird because I bought a used base DE CVT, yet it came with all these add ons. Chrome foglights, side skirts, mud guards, ding bar across the doors, and the side skirts. I guess the previous owner added all this later on? Hard to believe a base DE would come with all these options?Name: 20200210_104621.jpg

They are held in with snap in things and screwed in plus adhesive stuff.
I was going to clean and paint them gloss black and put them back on since 4 pounds isn't worth it. I just wanted some opinions to see. Honestly without the skirts, seeing the pinch welds looks ugly. So I'll take some pictures and see what you all think and see what looks better after I paint and stick them back on.

Dirk: That's the best picture I've seen of your Mirage yet! Looking good!

Was it post #83 of the yellow updated new Mirage (rocker panels missing) discussed a short time ago?

Thank you! I proud of my little econo****box. Adding tinted windows really makes a Mirage's colors pop. Matches my ziptied autozone black hubcaps too lol. Still though, I cant imagine why the previous owner would spend over a $1000 bucks on these add ons for a base DE? Lucky me I suppose. Our G4 doesnt have the side skirts and it gets filthy down there and hard to clean.
