PS: 3.3L/100km is about 70 mpg / US

I wonder what I would get if I had a friend tow my Mirage with my Forester, & I took a pic of my Mirage's mpg rating?

    That's pretty good!

If we had a base level 1.0 liter/manual option, I'm pretty sure that is what I would own, too. Even at the 69 horsepower, I have owned a couple cars with less. I know my 1978 Honda Civic Wagon & 1990 Ford Festiva were both 63 horsepower, but neither one had A/C. A/C does zap these small engines.

Me too! That extra 9 hp our 1.2L cars have is just for showing off and hot rodding.

    Nice work, foama!!

Again I have the 1.0L envy. (I really should put my 98 Firefly [Metro] back on the road. Or sell it. Haven't driven it for 4 or 5 years now.)

My current Mirage tank is sitting at about the same numbers as yours, but with a bunch of eco-modifications. (You'd probably be getting in the high 2's with the same mods.)

Best tank for Mirage #3, just a hair over 70 MPG US = 3.2 L/100 km!

    That's over 831 km = 516 mi.

Manual calculations were unusually close to the display, only off by 0.2 MPG.

I've been seeing some crazy good numbers lately. Eg. this was from a 70 km round trip 2 days ago:

    How is this possible?

    1) Cruising at very moderate speeds on rural roads with speed limits from 70-80 km/h = ~42-50 mph.

    2) Unusually HOT ambient temps - 32C = 90 F, with no temptation of MPG-killing AC in this poverty spec Mirage! And I use the block heater to pre-heat the engine year-round.

    3) I haven't directly tested them against the Enasaves yet, but the butt dyno tells me that the new-to-me Bridgestone Potenza RE92's on the car roll noticeably better than the Dunlops.

    4) Almost no traffic, so I can coast F..O..R..E..V..E..R to stops & turns - hardly touch the brakes.

    5) Engine kill switch, and multiple other eco & aero mods.

Yesterday I saw the best #'s ever. Not for a full tank though. We were likely not going to make it back from where we "camped" to the next town that had fuel 90kms away so we coasted as much as possible. After driving for 30 mins(as per time stamps of pics taken) I was showing 3.5L/100km(67mpg). After that there were a lot of big long hills to climb and we were on the highway for the last stretch so had to do a safe minimum speed. The cluster showed 4.2l/100km after driving 90kms loaded with camping gear, water logged seats and carpet.

Meaning... match the speed of the first large truck you encounter? I sometimes do that. People aren't going to be mad at a tiny, underpowered car driving behind a lumbering truck.

My stupid high numbers are mostly owed to driving on empty rural roads. With nobody else behind me I can use all kinds of otherwise inappropriate ecodriving techniques like driving under the limit, bleeding speed going up hills, and coasting forever toward turns & stops.

If there's someone behind me and no opportunity for them to pass, I do the limit.

It was a cross between coasting to save fuel and to save the engine. The oil light was coming on now and then. The oil got thinned out a lot being mixed with water. Maybe this helped improve economy running 0w1 oil lol
I looked back at one video and it had no oil pressure for some time before I noticed. It’s quiet as a mouse though. No rod knock or tick

We used to steal my best friend's dads' Honda 600 CAR on Friday nights. Yep, that was the vertical twin air cooled AA/FC class fire breathing dragon. AFAIK the first 4 wheeled Honda in North America, circa 1974. Chick magnet.

I've gotten as much as 61 mpg in my 2021 G4 with the A/C on at 55 mph on a long stretch of a flat highway. But that was a few months after I for got it. Now I have 165000 miles on it. It still get into the low 50s though.
