Krown rust control is available in the USA

In case any Forum member is interested, Krown rust control is available in around a dozen locations in the USA. I always thought it was an exclusively Canadian thing eh, but I guess it's not.

Some people think the undercoating that is done at the factory is totally good enough. And that aftermarket applications are bogus money-grabbers.

Maybe so, but I will say that Krown saved my 6- 7 yr old Mirage from inevitable rust. Underneath I have no rust at all. The exhaust pipe does but new cars have rust there.

My doors are mint, under the hood looks brand new. You get oil bulid up of the Krown stuff around the bolts etc. That's a good thing. The door handles drip krown oil for a month after application. Good lubrication.

Anyway maybe helps cheers... here's a link to the Monroe, Michigan store

    https://www.krown.com/en/locations/u.../monroe/munroe

only issue is that it kinda stinks

Yeah, I actually just got mine re-applied for the year a few days ago.

It gets everywhere (that's the point) and it will be a drippy oily mess for a week or so, after that first week or so you can wash it to make it less gross and it cleans up fairly well after that.

Also, the first few times after application, it's going to smoke like a tire fire until the stuff on the exhaust and other hot bits burn off.

Here in NS with tax its about $130 for a application on a car the size of a Mirage.

Do you suppose it has to do with how many (or percentage of) people own a car in the city?

Sorry to be nosy, how do you like those all-weather Kumho Solus 14" tires??

Even in NYC car ownership is around 50%. NJ is the most population dense state and most people have cars. CT is not far behind. $1,000,000 franchise idea right here.

I discovered a Krown dealer in Ohio a few years ago when my Mirage was new (see this thread). At that time, he was only 1 of maybe 3 or 4 dealers in the US. He's about an hour away from me, but it's worth the drive. He has several customers who come in from other states.

Even if there's not a dealer near you, you can buy a couple of cans of the Krown material and spray it on yourself. It may not be as good as a professional application, but it's a lot better than nothing! At least get some sprayed inside your doors, hatch and other easily accessed panels.

I don't know anything about NH Oil Undercoating but I have seen their products on a few automotive TV shows. I think this product is similar to Krown...but it may be thicker.

I would be one of those people, & some undercoating applications are a waste of money. Having said that, I am not saying that about Krown. I appreciate how well it has been working for you, & your willingness to share that. That's the wonderful thing about this forum.

If Krown had locations in Wisconsin, I would not rule them out.

For sure Mark! I've been reading up on the one called Fluid Film that Eggman posted about. One of the "waxy" ones, and I wonder if that means the car feels funny to the touch forever after.

I have been near Wisconsin, but never in it... I have family in Michigan and they live in the UP in the summer so I have been there many times, same drive as a kid and then driving myself. So far to drive along I75, but "my" private beach of 25+ years of visits sure is nice.

I may have been in Wisconsin the time my old Escort broke down, but we were in such a kerfuffle and trying to get back to the cottage, that I couldn't tell you for sure. I told my bro in law before we left, my car won't make it in the summer heat, and I was right.

The closest Krown to me is in Omaha, Nebraska. That's a long drive from MPLS, MN. I get that Krown is different from Ziebart and am interested in other places that fill Krown's niche closer to me.
