I know that pattern well. From the sounds of it, I think we get less extremes in southern Ontario. We get lots of winter, but we don't have the ocean. The Great Lakes are big though and stir up fast.

It's the rust belt too so cars don't last long here.

There's 3.78L in a US gallon so at $.81cad a gallon is $3.06. With the google exchange rate $2.17/gallon merican. The lowest it's been in Edmonton was 56 c a liter/$1.50 a gallon merican. It was as low as 1.31/gallon(49c/liter) a few hours south of here earlier last week.
What a crazy world in which we live. Over here there are 4.54 litres to an Imperial gallon. Why in God's name can't they makeit all uniform?

Looks like a 1.1 litre bottle of J&B's Rare is $40.80 CAD (taxes & deposit inc.) currently at the NSLC... or about £23.27.
That is a good price for J&B rare, still not enough though for me to contemplate a relocation. I'll swallow the higher price then swallow the alcohol.

I can certainly put back some J&B, but Macallan 12yr Sherry Oak is my go-to. I am rarely without a bottle. But it has gotten more expensive over the last few years. I will need to fly to Scotland and have a little talk with them about that.

Are you sure it's the gallon which differs? Maybe an Imperial liter is smaller than an American one?

Talk to most Canadians over 60 and they'll talk in imperial gallons. I have to keep this in mind when older people(in the Canadia) claim ridiculously high mpg. I just got 52mpg on my last fill up, but wait that's imperial so I really got 42 us mpg...

According to google, about 20% more. 1 Imperial Gallon = 1.20095 US gallons.

I'm 37 and I'm a mishmash of metric and imperial. Woodworking I'm inches and feet, pool temperature is in Fahrenheit, outdoor/indoor temperatures in Celsius... my weight and height in US feet and US pounds.
