    Idle relearn/ecu reset

Is there a specific idle relearn/ecu reset procedure for our Mirage?

I wonder if this is covered in the service manual?

Just a quick response to your question - I haven't checked the manual. Do you have a copy?

I'm just curious... What's going on that you need to do this? The only time I've ever had to do an idle relearn was after replacing a throttle body on a drive-by-wire car.

I wanted to reset my ecu/idle relearn because i cleaned my throttle body today. Does taking the battery terminal off for a few minutes enough to reset it? Is there a specific procedure for mirage? Been searching the web but cant find specific for our car.

So after you cleaned the car won't idle properly? Is it idling too high?

Just so we can learn from this...can you tell us how you cleaned it? Did you manually open the throttle plate and then spray cleaner into it? Did you disconnect the wiring harness connector before you cleaned it?

For cleaning the throttle body, it is important to stick to the correct procedure as indicated in the FSM!
The procedure is too long to explain here, but if not observed, you end up with a lot of avoidable and costly trouble.

These cars are not crude, but rather precision made and there is no place for unknowledgeable messing around!

Consult the FSM sections 13A-655 and 00-41 for info.

What i did: Remove battery, remove intake, unbolt 4 bolts on the throttle body. Sprayed some carb cleaner on a rag and wipe. Let dry. Reinstall everything in reverse. No, i did not manually opened the throttle plate. I asked someone to step on the gas pedal while the key switched to ON. Its not really idling bad. I feel its a little jumpy when changing gears. But today i removed the battery again, then reconnect, idle for about 10mins with everything off(light, radio, etc), then idle for another 10mins with everything on, bumped the rpm to about 3000 and stayed there for a while until radiator fan kicks in a couple of times. . Drove for a little bit. Its running normally now.

That's good. I messed up a previous car by cleaning the throttle body. I manually opened the throttle plate to clean the back side of it...while it was still connected to the wiring harness. After I did that, the engine idled at 2000 RPMs. A couple of days of driving it like that and it figured out how to idle properly again.

Don't forget to put a tiny amount of molybdenum oil on it.
