If you have a bunch of cash saved in your cash fund, a Mirage is a good buy for you. New or used. Stay away from fully-loaded models sold in the showroom. That's done to draw suckers in and tap their debit or visa for a glossy car in 10 minutes.
Order a base model new. Have your new car delivered to your house.
Mitsubishi, and all the other car companies are desperate for business, so it's a total buyer's market.. with car's and the millions of used cars, it's always a buyer's market. Houses it can go back and forth, and is a seller's market right now in all of Canada.

What are some problems with the 2014 Mirage models?
The worst problem that a couple members had was the starter would grind on the flywheel. The fix is pull the transmission, replace flywheel, starter and some alignment bushings. Some have had a hard time getting that covered under warranty. I personally haven't had an issue with mine and I'm not worried about it. It's always wise to not buy the first model year of anything, wait a year or two til the bugs are worked out. The cvt's for early 2014 model years have a different part number than late 14 and newer. Nobody knows if the later models will fit the older 2014's? If not it could be a pita trying to find a used early model 2014 cvt if you/I needed one. Again, not a big issue on a low mileage car but if you're looking at ones creeping up to past 160,000km/100,000miles I'd be a little hesitant unless the price is low. But it doesn't look like they're giving Mirages away in your part of the continent. I picked up my almost fully loaded 14 with under 25,000miles for $6000cad in November.

Meh... not imho. I gave 2800 for a 15 with 70k. Its a beater but it runs and drives well.

https://modesto.craigslist.org/cto/d...129607711.html Just noticed higher miles. If trany has been serviced and it drives fine I'd gamble on it. Even if cvt craps out, you should be able to replace it for well under $2000

This looks decent, not sure why it shows salvage? https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/...141153197.html
You can probably find something 2015 and newer with under 60,000miles for under $5000.

My 2014 hasn't had any of those issues. It did get a coil replaced that's it and the back alignment is slightly off but not according to Mitsubishi lol. Remember these cars came out in 2012 not 2014 worldwide. Most 2014s will be just fine IMO. The different model CVT thing is a pain but nobody knows if it could affect interchangeability, most likely not.
