It may not seem for real, but seats are VERY complex. Changing a trim cover isn't all that easy either. Unless it's just coloring/styling changes of the same material. Different fabrics stretch and fatigue from stretching differently, so even that is complex. So ... that said, I doubt the seats will change much during a minor model change.
I'm actually kind of proud of Mitsubishi for doing a minor model change to the vehicle (versus an all new vehicle). It's not a huge seller in the U.S., but world wide it is fairly decent from what I understand. So why radically change a good thing? Especially the powertrain.
The LS 460 that I own was in production for maybe 11 years, with one minor model change. Even Lexus thought it was a good idea to let it roll. Then when they did do a major model change to the LS 500, it turned out to be a turd. So they were right to take as many sales as they could with the previous generation. Mitsubishi is more or less doing the same thing, and I think they are right to do that.
