I read that I set the transmission in neutral and turn the crankshaft pulley bolt clockwise slowly. Right?

Inspected all teeth on the ring gear. All good.

Now I'm trying to find a fitting starter brush kit because these ones look short to me already.

Light coat of shmooh on the end where the shaft rides in the bushing. If the bendix is dry give it a tiny shot of smhooh. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Those brushes are a little worn, I've seen some worn down to the wires. I had one that was acting up so I replaced it. I took the old one apart and everything looked fine. Installed it in a different car and it worked fine. Don't forget to check the solenoid.
