Some models of beetle for that generation used the same springs as the jetta mark 3 which are longer. I don't remember which trim of beetle I pulled mine from, but that is why I posted the photos of the color code on the springs in my original writeup. I am still riding on the VW springs in the rear with no issues other than hating the front factory setup.

I am looking forward to adding a hitch this fall to see how it will work for towing a small teardrop trailer at around 1000 lbs.

I do not know much about Beetle, but for my VW T4 Camper there where at least 6 different Springs from Factory. They have different paint paint dots on it. White where the weakest and red-brown the strongest. If you check aftermarket springs for the beetle there where different heights:

    332 mm : https://m.pkwteile.de/kyb/825135

    343 mm: https://m.pkwteile.de/ridex/8099757

Don't know if there where more, just a quick look into Google.

If you didn't figure it out, they fit but you need to install while using a jack under the spring holder.
