Need help with beetle rear springs.

I tried a set of regular Beetle springs from a junkyard and found them too tall - my rear shock absorbers were at full extension much of the time. They fit in the spring seats. I returned those springs and went back with my stock set.

I also tried a couple sets of springs from something else - some Yarii I think - they didn't fit well in the spring seats so I gave up on those too.

Despite some claims here on the forum, I cannot recommend Beetle springs. Maybe if I found a lowering set, it hasn't been that important for me to pursue.

I didn't think this will be this frustrating after seeing all these claims of Beetle springs work great.

Appreciate the input. If I can find cheap Yaris springs I might just try those.

What is your goal? Are you trying to lower the car or go for better handling?

If you're after better handling, a rear sway bar is going to be your best bang for the buck.

My goal is to be able carry 2 people in the back without the rear of the car sagging. I really dont care about handling I just to be able to carry extra weigh in the back.

In theory with stiffer springs in the back, some of the rear sway should be be reduced.

I have zero experience with air bag suspensions, but it may solve your concern?

I installed 2003 Beetle springs, not lowering, and they were almost say size as OEM. 50k and no problems. I recommend them.

Did you remember if they were the same length (side by side) when relax before you installed them? The 2003 I bought were too long.

This where my confusion is coming from -- folks like yourself are having no issues using 1998- 2006 Beetle spring but when I bought my 2003 spring they are too long. Are there different springs for the Beetle from the factory other than lowering springs?

Yep same length. I bought used, not new, as did the guy in this thread

I don't know about that. I pulled the springs off the Beetle myself.

I remember. All I'm saying is mine were the same length and they work great. If they have the same color dots as above thread, I don't know why they would be different.

My Suzuki Swift rear springs still works great for 5 years and its still has the same height and stance.

Didnt noticed any change in height. No bottoming at all.
