North America To Receive Facelifted Mirage

This just showed up from Mitsubishi Motors North America:

    2021 MIRAGE and MIRAGE G4
On sale in Q1 2021, as a 2021 model. With an extensive exterior redesign, the U.S.'s most fuel-efficient non-hybrid gasoline-fueled vehicle3 becomes an even more compelling value. Mirage has never looked richer or better equipped, with bold styling and standard safety equipment putting it into a new level of consideration.

The entire press release talking about the 2021 model line up can be here. Sounds like Mitsubishi isn't going anywhere!

Well this is some welcome news!

There were some rumors that Mitsu would be throwing in the towel in North America because of Nissan's ailing fortunes.

That doesn't seem to be the case however for now!

Hopefully the all-new Outlander is a home run! Interested to see how it competes, even though I'm not interested in it what so ever.

    Also: Neat!

Every Mitsubishi vehicle to receive standard Forward Collision Mitigation with Pedestrian Detection active safety features

    Prototype Yellow!

Photo caption says a "prototype US model" shown.

So the takeaway from that press release is that we won't be seeing the 2021 Mirage this year.

I wonder if they will continue production of 2020 Mirages until the end of this calendar year...like they did in 2015.

Good point. The original release for Canada at least was supposed to be this summer.

My guess and it's only a guess that the roll out has been delayed due to reduced manufacturing capacity in Thailand and it will take extra time to produce enough cars to roll out in the North American market.

I love it when negative news gets debunked. Here's hoping for more future Mitsubishi and specifically Mirage success.

Anyone think the SARS-COV2 pandemic will help propel small car sales? I do, but that's probably wishful thinking. Good thing we all got ours early.

Personally, I think yes. Girlfriend and I were driving around the Lehi/Provo area yesterday and it's amazing how many SUVs we saw that were up for sale for near-desperate prices...

I don't think we'll see demand for small cars go up.

With companies encouraging buyers to stretch car loans to 72 or 84 (or even 96) months, the difference in monthly payment between a Fit (cancelled) and a Civic, or between a Yaris (cancelled) and a Corolla is negligible.
