Question about the optional "Mood lighting" for the interior of the Mirage.

I was looking at the blue lighting kit that is an option for the Mirage. I think one of them lights the shifter area, and the other is floor lighting.
Can anyone that has this setup comment on how it works? does it only come on with the door, or is it controlled by a switch?

I wish they had it in red!

I have both kits in my car. The console lighting comes on with the headlights, the footwell lighting comes on when the doors are opened. Personally, I wish it came in the same orange as the dash lights.

There is the blue kit, and apparently a white kit as well. I have never seen the white kit for sale anywhere. These kits are rather expensive for what they are, which is just an LED or two with a wiring pigtail, some clips, and a few wire ties. I was able to get mine on Ebay for a significant discount. Installation is kind of a hassle and requires quite a bit of disassembly, drilling, etc, but I think it was worth it.

Here you can see the locations of two of the three LEDs. The other is in the driver's footwell.

Thanks for the pics and the reply.
I think I'm going to pass. I agree the color should be that reddish orange that the rest of the night lighting is. I was also hoping that it was something that could be turned on an off indepenantly from the other lights.

Use some smd 5050 LED strip, it's available in orange that match to dash lights.

Now that I like! Very cool. I'll have to do some research.

That looks great! Would you mind sharing how you wired it in? Would love to add that to my car.
