what’s up everybody - new member from NC USA

what’s up y’all! i have had a mitsubishi mirage de for shortly over a year now, and was recommended to join this forum. i haven’t done much to the little guy but want to get it equipped and ready for weekend adventures.

looking into a set of cross-bars for the roof , then wanting to get some 185/75R14 tires - hoping they are a set that would fit.

attached are some photos of my little ride. all i have done are exterior cosmetics and cut the muffler , which honesty i could’ve done without.

Welcome! I've always liked that color!

Welcome. I'm not sure anyone has fit a 24.9" tall tire on a Mirage yet. I guess I'm old when I think cutting the muffler off a car is obnoxious. Though it's probably not too bad on these cars.

Members who stay with tires that are 23" or under (outside diameter) seem happiest. A 23" tire is within a recommended 3% tire variance that most tire installers would recommend. Just using some 14" size tires for comparison -

165/65r14 factory tires are 22.4", & Walmart offers 11 tire options today.
175/65r14 tires are 23" (+2.7% variance), & Walmart offers 123 tire options today.
    185/60r14 are 22.7" (+1.3% variance), & Walmart offers 89 tire options today.
    185/65r14 are 23.5" (+4.9% variance), & Walmart offers 185 tires options today.
    185/70r14 are 24.2" (+8% variance), & Walmart offers 105 tire options today.
    185/75r14 are 24.9" (+11.2% variance), & Walmart offers 11 tire options today.

Not promoting tires @ Walmart. Just checking how popular a tire size may be using one source.

185/65r14 would already be pushing the size limit in my opinion, but I am not a tire expert.

Last point - 4.5" wide rims are made for 145-175 mm wide tires. Not saying 185 tires can be used, because some members are surely doing that, too!

oh agreed. the muffler was one of those things i did out of pure boredom while my job was shut down here. not sure i still love it.
on long highway drives (which i do often) the cabin can get pretty loud and obnoxious.

Sorry I'm late, welcome! Love the color and stripe! I really like the 2015s more than the 2017-2020. They look more "rally"/"sporty".
